Video Capturing and My Studio Cards

As you know I’ve shared some videos for Equestria Girls that I compiled. Here’s what software I used to get those captured and edited together.

I initially used OBS (Open Broadcast Studio) to record the video from the game. You will need a few setting changes to go from its default streaming to vid capture. Here’s recommendations from 2 users on setting changes. I think i had best bet with UT’s recommendations but I’m not 100% sure. I’ve had sporadic bouts of success with OBS and other times it was glitchy and patchy recordings. The settings screen may have changed from what is embedded below since the software updated. I’ve actually recently moved to BandiCam and it fixed all the recording woes.

I also use: FLV Extract to change the file from FLV to Mp4 (very quick)
Sony Vegas to assemble the clips into a movie and add music ($$) to an mp4. Xmedia to make webm’s of any completed mp4 clips.

I used the lockoncam mod in game which made it very easy to click on a girl, have the camera immediately pan to her, you pivot around, and then you select the next girl and repeat. Its wonderful for movies. I blogged about it here.

Again my initial vids were pretty poor but getting better software, better camera mods, and getting used to the controls made them improve bit over time.

Of course everything was done in Honey Studio for those vids. Here’s a few massive studio scenes in this post.
